Weak dollar good for the economy?

With the dollar so weak, American companies should do well. American made products (if there are any left) can be bought cheaper than their foreign competitors.

  1. Its an illusion. A weak dollar might boost exports, but any gains in exports are negated by the higher prices you have to pay for imported materials like Oil, Gas, Copper, Nickel, etc...

    So your business might sell more John Deere Tractors overseas to the Chinese, but when the Steel costs more, the Rubber, the Diesel, the electricity powered by NatGas, and so on costs more. Any gains will be short lived.
