Wean kittens for first time?

my kittens are now 5 weeks old. I have put kitten food out watered down and ionly 2 have started to try the others dont want to know,.... is this ok?

  1. A kitten shouldn't be weened until 8 weeks, but if the mother is nowhere in sight, they do have special formula for kittens that is like mother's milk


  2. Five weeks is a little young to wean kittens.  They usually nurse until about eight weeks.  It is okay to give them some moistened dry kitten food or a little high quality canned food, but if they aren't ready to eat it, they should continue to nurse.

  3. You should not try weaning your kittens untill around 8 weeks old. 5 weeks is too early. 8/10 weeks is the usual time for kittens to start eating "normal" food.
