Hi I started weaning my son at 17 weeks he is now 19 wks old, on advise from the HV, he has 4 bottles of formula a day, some baby rice at tea time, and a few spoon fulls of veg or fruit at lunch.

I just wanted to know when do I start introducing breakfast, as books say at about 23 wks is this right or should I be doing it now.

Hope you can help, this is my first baby.

  1. I have always done dinner then add breakfast then add the luch at a later time. my 17 week old has that now . Rice cereal for breakfast then vegies for dinner. dont listen to those who tell you you shouldnt be feeding him solids until 6 months as al babies are different at are a guide line thats prob why books say 23 weeks! do it when you think your baby is ready :)

    good luck

  2. Sounds like he is doing great. 23 weeks sound fine to me but the signs would be if he was waking up earlier for his morning bottle or devouring it and then wanting more.

  3. We started with breakfast when it seemed like the bottles were not quite enough.  If your baby normally goes 4 hours between bottles but starts going less time it may be time to add it in.  We started with lunch, then breakfast and now my daughter is 6 months old and she gets 1/2 jar w/ cereal at bkfst, lunch and dinner along with about 5    6 oz bottles per day...her Pediatrician says that she is growing great!

Good luck, I am sure your baby will guide you as to when he is ready for more...my daughter already stares at every bite we take.
