  1. I personally didn't do solids with my kids until they were about 6 months old.  Sometimes any sooner and it can cause digestive problems.  My youngest didn't start on solids until she was 10 months old.  Until after the first year, all they really need is formula or breastmilk.  But, I would say if you must start solids to do rice cereal and start with 1tbsp of rice cereal and make it very runny with breastmilk or formula.  You can increase the consistency of it in a few weeks and then just continue from there.

  2. We are not recommended to wean until 6 months although i weaned my first two at four months as that was the guideline then and my third at 5 months as she was ready then. But all babies are different If she is ready for weaning i would start off with baby rice mixed with the milk she usually has or a fruit puree. I would give a few tablespoons at lunch for the first week then introduce a breakfast time one then tea after that but still keeping the mid morning, afternoon and bedtime milk!!!

  3. That sounds so young.  The problem with starting infants so young on solids is that there is more risk of allergies developing.  It really isn't worth the price.  My son has food allergies and it can be very difficult.  More difficult is driving like a maniac to the hospital because he can't breathe and is turning blue!

So think about that and take your time.  There is nothing gained in rushing.  Typically a pediatrician will recommend anywhere from the age of 6 months to 9 months for solids.

  4. None. She is not ready for solids - she's not even close to ready for solids. She is only 3 months old and she needs to be 6 months unless there is a serious medical reason for the solids - in which case, of course, you give her the amounts and frequencies that the doctor specifies.

You can do permanent damage giving a baby solids that young. Sure, some are lucky and are fine - but why take that risk? Early weaning just because baby looked at you eating or is chewing things has zero advantages and some very serious disadvantages. To me, it's a no-brainer.
