Is it possible for Army personnel to purchase and use their own firearms and ammo in combat?

If an enemy combatant falls who gets his firearms and what happens to his personal effects?

  1. No you can only use what the Army has issued.

After a battle if there is time during re-consolidation you try to gather and destroy all enemy weapons. If there is no time you leave it. Personal effects are left with the body.

  2. No you cannot

and you dont get his wapeons and i guess the othere enemies will police it

  3. There are lots of times in all military/war situations where people do use their own weapons Patton for One Ivory Handled revolvers

during WWI2 lots of the allies used captured Lugars German Automatic hand gun Vietnam american troops used and took home AK47 assault rifle used by Viet Cong

and Yes you can purchase your own weapons I did I was in the Royal Air Force and owned my own 303 and even in the Royal Australian Air Force i owned and used a Military personally owned 9 mm browning pistol

  4. You wouldn't purchase your own weapon in the military.

In most cases, you can't keep prizes either (obviously, people get around that).    There are some exceptions though....my brother was Marine Recon in Vietnam and was permitted to keep a few Chinese SKS (semi-auto rifles), because they found a huge cache of weapons.

  5. You will use Army issue weapons.  Enemy weapons will be destroyed.
