  1. You may need to just wait and save up a couple hundred more. I wanted to get my husband a bow for our anniversary last year and it was well over $600 for everything, and the bow he got was basically the cheapest they had. Now, that was for a new one, plus all that goes with it (keep that in mind, you'll need way more than just a bow)...

Just be patient and save up for a while...

  2. Please don't go to a pawn shop horrible idea when it comes to a good bow but ebay is not so bad. Try to find a PSE bow they are kind of cheap and shot well. My first bow however was a Hoyt Vetrix and with 60-70 lbs pull back. I would say save up you money because those bows last you a long time but if you want it quick go PSE 2003-2007 model.

  3. Check with your local newspaper and internet classifieds for private individuals selling there Bow's or you can also check your local Pawn Shop these 2 methods will get you your best results.

  4. most pawn shops have used bows pretty cheap, just check it out very well, and make sure it has the right draw length for you. Also, many bow shops run a special purchase on a youth bow set up. Just be patient and keep looking. You might also try Cabela's or sportsmans warehouse for a sale on archery equipment.

    good luck

  5. my buddy bought a nice bow for less than 100 dollars at a pawn shop. a compound bow isn't something you want to be cheap about tho-you'll probably regret it. i shoot PSE and the bow was about 300 and then my six carbon arrows were 45 dollars. then you gots ta buy a release, sights, etc... my total package was about 520 bucks. just goes to show that a $300 bow can get expensive.

buying a used bow can be DANGEROUS. those things have a lot of tension on them. my friend with the used bow took it to the huntin shop and they would not adjust the draw weight because they didn't know how far they could turn the nut before the limbs pop off or somethin haha

buying from a local gun shop is best because they will help you set up your drawlength and draw weight and get your bow dialed in. i don't know your age but browning makes a youth package for like $225. but if you want to find a cheap bow, check the iwannas or local paper or ebay even but be careful

  6. You can try either ebay or a pawn shop.  $150 is a rather tight budget for a compound setup.  Remember you also need to buy arrows.  If you're buying a new bow, there are some PSE setup in that price range, the bow still need release and a few other knick knacks to make it work.

Wrangler, I'd be more concerned about that local shop, if they don't know how to adjust the bow.  When adjusting a bow's draw weight on a compound, they need to put it on a press and release the tension.  Then take the bolt out all the way to see how far it will go without the tension on it.

For buying used equipment like that I wouldn't go to anything online.  I'd like to be able to see and handle the bow before I purchase it.  If you find a good deal on www.ebay.com, make sure the source is reputable, and there's a good return policy.

  7. E-bay, a pawn shop, or the used bows at the archery shop. Good luck.
