  1. If you have patience then I suggest regular potty training underwear because your son will realize sooner that he doesn't like feeling wet. I also let my son run around the house without a diaper or underwear for the 2nd day so he could run to the "potty" faster and then he was more comfortable with having on cloth underwear.  It will take alot of patience but if u stick it out u could have him trained in a week ! My son took 6 days and he was 2 and a half. Whatever you decide don't scold him for accidents because then he will be afraid , the wetness alone should be enough to disappoint himself, he needs you to tell him he'll do better next time and then remember to "celebrate" when he does do good.

  2. I used pull ups so my kids could get into the habit of pulling their undies down by themselves....they did great!!!!!

  3. When my son was "ready": he knew when he had to go and knew what a potty was for, we just put him in underwear.  Pull-ups are just like diapers in that they wick away moisture and it's not uncomfortable for children to soil themselves.  Why use cloth diapers when you can use cloth underwear?  It may be a bit messy when there are accidents, but that allows you to deal with accidents immediately instead of an hour or more after the fact. For that matter, to kickstart the training, we spent three days running around the backyard with nothing on and running to the potty when he felt like he had to go and rewarding with M&Ms for staying dry or going on the potty.
