Wearable Advertising?

So the company I work for is launching this whole new community where members get access to all kinds of special discounts and products. We want to make this a HUGE deal, treat members like VIPs at our events, especially our upcoming one in Vegas since this is so new.

I have 2 questions -

1 - What are some great ways to welcome these new members (for example, special cocktail reception, or something)

2 - What is a non-cheesy way to help spread the word visually by giving these new members something to wear/carry at the event to show that they are members and generate conversation (think tshirt, but not so cheesy)?

What kinds of events? If there are outdor events, you can get fold out chairs or coolers. You can give everyone "Passes" with their pic so they know who else is a member.
