  1. Try to use the drag suit only during the times when you really want to test yourself, but if the meet is soon, try to use the suit you will wear during the meet. A friend of mine tried doing that, thought it would help, but instead during the meet, he felt uncomfortable wearing the suit, that cost him the race.

  2. so i swim too. i always wear drag except meets. it makes you work harder at practice. i know some of my frends wear tights, fish net stockings, t-shirts, shorts and anything else you can imagine and it does improve you time in meets.

  3. DEFINETLY!!! no matter what meet it is, WEAR A DRAG SUIT!!!! it will help you in any meet that comes your way! wear the suit at practice and when your warming up at the meet. right before your race take it off. it will really help you feel better in the water and youll feel a lot smoother in the water also. wearing a drag suit is a great way to help your muscles and your stroke, also.

  4. Actually your doing yourself a favor by wearing a drag suit during practices. The suit helps you improve your speed. But, I would strongly advise you not to wear your drag suit during the meet. You should either wear a jammer or speedo to the competition.

  5. The drag suit will create more resistance so you'll get stronger faster than if you were just moving yourself through the water without the drag suit.

Just be careful you don't alter you motion too much because of the suit.

  6. its your choice i dont wear a drag suit because i try to get my best times in practice and if i have a drag suit i know i cant do that also drag suits tend to sink the hips which forms a bad stroke and bad habits but if its only for a week i guess i would wear it if i think i will swim faster but its all in your head. Hope this helps...

  7. #1 ... If you have a big meet this week-end, you should be resting for the meet, not working extra hard.  You can't achieve top times if you're fatigued from practice.  So, DON'T WEAR the drag suit for the remainder of the week.

#2 ... A drag suit sounds good.  However, it slows your rate of turnover in your stroke and that is bad.  It is more important to, FIRST: have excellent stroke and then, SECOND: have excellent stroke and increased your rate of stroke (turnover).

Regardless ... do a lot of resting this week ... long warm-ups and cool downs ... a couple of sprints and get out.  Work on starts and turns ... do a couple of broken swims to think about race strategy.  Just don't get over fatigued.

  8. i think you should wear the suit you will be wearing at the meet so you could see the time for your event as if you were swimming at the meet

  9. Having a meet this weekend be careful not to burn yourself out...i have swam competitively for 20 years...i have always wore a drag suit...and also swam with a parachute, and the rubber band tied to the blocks...really helps a lot...the resistance is great...just like when a runner runs with a chute...without it they run without that resistance and they are generally faster....good luck!!!!

  10. Do not where the drag suit at the meet!!!! . It will drasitically reduce your time, the drag suit is to teach you to swim faster , so that when you do go to a meet you swim faster. If you want to do good in the swim meet you will where a normal speedo. Also it might make you seem cocky.
