  1. It's not a rule, but it helps cut the sunlight so you can track your ball to see where it lands.

  2. it is for the sun and so the player can tell where the golf ball went

  3. I has a lot more to do with sponsorships. Back in the day, before sponsorships were so lucrative, golfers hardly ever wore hats and if they did they were plain. Now a days they make more on sponsorships then on playing and so there for you see hats a lot more (of course being more aware of skin cancer/damage leads to more pros wearing hats).

  4. It is not a rule but it helps keeping the sun out of their eyes and it also helps from getting sunburned on their forehead.

  5. There is no rule stating a player should wear a hat. Since the golfer practices and plays in the sun, caps, hats and sun glasses are protective items and should be used by anyone who is exposed to sunlight for extended periods. this includes caddies, officials, spotters, crowd managers and the grounds crew.

  6. no its not a rule - i think they wear hats in case they hit their balls into the woods - it protects their heads if birds p**p on them

  7. The pros do it because they get paid lots of money to wear a hat or visor with someone's logo on it.  Also, it helps shield the eyes from the sun.  That, and it helps cover up all their bald spots.

  8. No it is for the sun. Also they have sponsors on hat. They can pick colors though. Announcers will be able to identify a golfer by the color of hat shirt and pants. caddies also wear hat usually Sponsor of ball or club company.

  9. You need more to do.

  10. it keeps the sun out of your eyes and keeps you from getting sun burned
