Question:

Wearing a suit casually?

I landed a role last week with one of the largest insurance brokers in the UK. They were all very much suit and tie the whole team. I loved the role and people, but after a few days work I found it was going to cost me around £1000 a month in travel alone and around 2 hours travel. It wasn't possible for me to b&b through out the week because of my personal life. I bought suits for the role, that were tailored - can't take back.

So I left, and now am starting with a large TV company on Monday. They are apparently very casual. I want to fit in, but at the same time I don't want to see my suit investment as moth food.

Is it possible to wear it casually Monday to Thursday, then have dress down Friday? I really don't want to offend anyone though, and fit in.

Any advice?

  1. You could wear the jacket with jeans?  It's called "student chic" where I come from!  Wear the shirts without ties (sorry if you bought them then you're going to have to not wear those!) and don't tuck your shirt in.

Don't wear trainers with it though, that looks silly for some reason!
