I fall asleep with my contacts on all the time. Ill go weeks without taking them off. They are the normal 30 day contacts that are supposed to be rinsed every night. Is it bad that I sleep with them on? Can I do any long term damage to my eyes?

  1. Your eyes need oxygen, and with contacts in they're not getting that. When you take out your contacts at night your eyes are breathing again. You can do serious damage to your eyes, starting with an infection if you keep leaving them in when you sleep. Your eyes may be fine NOW...but one night you may not be so lucky.

  2. I wear the soft/day-night/30 day and have not had them out for 60+days. This might not be in the best interest of my eyes but I have had no problems. I do put the drops in my eyes on a regular basis.

  3. i wear soft lense ones you are suppose to rinse every night but when i go to bed and get up early i just fall asleep with them in or i will totally forget and sleep with them in.  its prolly not the best for your eyes but i dont know as if they could harm your eyes

  4. Oo I'm pretty sure that is bad.

When you are sleeping, your eyes twitch and move around all night.  Sometimes, when your contact is on there, a bit of the corner of your contact gets caught and tears on your cornea, or iris, or..... some other thing whose name I forgot.  I'm not sure why this is bad, but it is what my friend told me, who has been wearing contacts for a long time.

I have also been wearing contacts for a few years, and my optometrist told me that protein builds up on your contact, and the purpose of rinsing them is to kill the bacteria and protein.  If you don't clean them, you will have gross stuff built up on them which will damage your contacts.

Trust me, just take them out please!  Do yourself a favor.

  5. Yes it's bad to do, but most contacts users do it occasionally.  It can cause ulcers on your eyes which could lead to permanent vision loss.  But this is on extreme cases.  So long as you put eye drops in your eye it should be okay.

  6. Look up Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis and look for images so you can see how gross it is.

    Look up Corneal Neovascularization too

Oh and how about Corneal Ulcers.

They are all really juicy tasty things that happen when someone overwears their contacts.  The thing is that there are contacts out there that are MADE to sleep in. So, here is the deal. We actually make money from people who have issues like this because they are not usually covered by their insurance for issues caused by contacts. So, we get paid cash without the discounts and gouges we get from the insurance companies. We just hate seeing people get these things from something that is so preventable. Do not be a bone head. These complications can cause you to not be able to wear contacts in the future and they also can lead to blindness. Just call your doctor and tell them you want night/day contacts. They are a bit more expensive, but WAY cheaper than fixing any of the other problems! Just call yoru doctor and do not be fooled in to thinking that this is harmless. We are just waiting to hear from you. It is not an "if" thing, it is a "when" thing. You are playing Russian Roulette every single day.

  7. its not good for your eyes and can increase the risk of infection which could then cause serious damage but if it doesnt bother your eyes any then its fine but make sure to put in drops to help keep your eyes and contacts moisturized since they arent soaking in the solution every night
