Question:

Wearing long gloves?

I'm considering wearing long gloves with my dress. I'm going for an Old Hollywood, elegant type of look. My dress will be either a sheath or mermaid/trumpet siloutte. However, how do you put your wedding ring on? I think I've seen gloves where just the ring finger part comes off, but that's ridiculous looking IMO.

Is there any way to wear long gloves when you're the bride?

  1. I wore long gloves. I got them at David's. They cut a slit on the underside of the base of the ring finger and then I stuck my finger out of it when the ring was put on. I thought it worked fine and I've seen it done that way before.

  2. Although all i can picture is "Jessica Rabbit" from the Roger Rabbit movie, wherever you purchase your dress should be knowledgeable about this.  Sounds pretty swanky though.  Good luck.

  3. The best man is usually holding the rings at the beginning of the ceremony, so when the minister asks for him to present the rings, you simply remove the glove(s) and hand them to your maid of honor for that portion of the ceremony.  You can put them back on after you have the ring on, or at the end of the ceremony.

  4. You take the gloves off and give them to your Maid of Honor.  After the ceremony, you put your gloves back on before taking the bouquet.  Make sure your gloves fit with a ring on, so take an example ring with you to try on gloves. Most brides have them so tight that they can't get them on over the ring.

  5. What about getting gloves like this?

It still gives it an Old Hollywood feel, but you can put the ring on your actual finger.

If not, then I would say that you can just have the ring placed over the glove. I think it will still look beautiful.
