Wearing my parents wedding band on my wedding day..?

My parents were divorced when I was 4. My mom still has her GORGEOUS wedding ring. I wanted to wear it on my right hand when I get married. Because it symbolized where I came from, ya know? But because they are divorced, I am feeling like maybe I shouldn't? Like it's bad luck or something. What do you guys think?!

dont think of it that way.  if its special to you then go for it just because your parents did not work out dont mean anything.

My daughter wanted something old to have for her wedding but didn't like any of the suggestions I had until I offered her my wedding band from when I was married to her father, like you we were divorced when she was 5.  

It wasn't a messy divorce, her father and I have always been civil to each other even 16 yrs later. It was more of a memory of where she came from than anything else.

I say wear it.

If anything, you can wear it as a symbol of new life... Like, you vow to make your marriage work even though your parents didn't. But if they have remained "friends" or at least sociable toward each other, then I think its a good idea.

I don't really believe in anything causing "bad luck" on a wedding, and I doubt the ring is somehow cursed just because your parents divorced, but it might bring back sad memories for your parents, particularly if they had a nasty divorce.  I love the idea of honoring your roots with some symbolic token, but maybe the ring from your parents' defunct marriage isn't the greatest symbol of where you came from.  Maybe see if your mom has some other nice jewelry, like earrings or a pretty necklace, you can wear as your "something borrowed," and maybe your dad can give you a lucky charm of his own- one that is actually lucky for him.
