Hi! My boyfriend have been to Costa Rica four times usually during October/November. The weather has been good and there has been great surf. We are getting married in June and planning our honeymoon in CR, I am curious if anyone could share there experiences with the weather and Surf during June. How is the rafting during this month? We usually rent a car and drive everywhere which already scares me in dry season :) Thank you.

  1. Well, I don't surf but I go to the beach. It is warm and is cold at night. But is pretty good in June

  2. There's no escaping the fact that Costa Rica except Guanacaste is a very wet country. During the rainy season (May to November) one can expect at most an hour or so of rain each  day in neighboring Nicaragua but in Costa Rica it sometimes seems the clouds will never lift again, and parts of the country receive 750 cm (25 ft) of rain a year.

  3. I went in June last year it was very warm it rained only twice when I was there. it's there winter so more rain.

I don't surf but I saw a lot of people surfing I think the temp was 80-90+

  4. The surf on the Pacific as always more turbulent during Sept - Nov as there is usually the presence of tropical depressions (hurricanes) occurring in the middle of the sea at this time.

June is considered the "rainy" season but the amount of precipitation is not going to be too significant. There will be afternoon showers but the mornings should generally be hot and sunny. Check out the Caribbean sea if you have not yet been there. Good surf is in the south near Puerto Viejo and Playa Manzanillo.

Otherwise I recommend checking out Dominical and Matapalo on the Central Pacific and if you have not yet been to Mal Pais, it is a sure bet as well.

  5. the weather is good 80-95

  6. Costa Rica's seasons are the opposite of North Americas,  for example in June its summer in New York and Winter in Costa.  Granted Costa's winter is much more mild than New Yorks it will still be a small change in the temperature.

As far as the surfing goes, this time of year will yeild excellent waves on the Pacific Coasts for most of their "winter".  Have fun.

  7. Go to MalPaís, best waves at that time of the year, I live there...great parties too!
