Weather and water in Cique Terre vs. Amalfi coast (beginning of May)?

I am taking my wife to Italy for a much deserved (by her) romantic trip. We're going in the beginning of May

I've split our 2 week vacation this way:

We're flying into Milan --> Venice -->Florence-->Rome--> Amalfi coast vs. Cinque Terre-->Milan

I am still confused whether it should be AC or CT?

We're looking to just relax for a couple of days, hopefully soak up some sun and hit the beach.

Is the water temp better in AC vs CT this time of year?

How different are the beaches in AC vs CT?

We're on foot/train: is either place easier to move around in?

Finally, are the prices very different?

In these last 2-3 days its cold and raining here in Italy, so I don't think you can stay on the beach. Bring a cardigan and a jacket with you ; )

I am going to Amalfi coast end of May. I would advise Amalfi over Cinque Terre as Amalfi is a lot further south so less risky temperature wise. I was in Cannes early June last year and the water was really only just warm enough to go swimming in although the air temp was fine. Bonnes vacances!

Both places are beautiful!  Cinque Terre is much closer to the rest of your destinations and would easier to get to, for you.  The beaches in the Cinque Terre area are rocky (not sand) while the Amalfi beaches are sandy.  In Cinque Terre, you'll have the ability to hike on marked paths and find your own secluded beaches.  Amalfi Coast area will be MUCH more expensive than Cinque Terre.  However, you really can't go wrong with either of these two places.  Enjoy!

Cinque Terre is closer to your other travel locations and is less expensive then Amalfi Coast. However, since the Amalfi Coast is further South, your chances of warmer weather are greater there. Both are lovely and accessible for foot/train/bus.

Amalfi is much better. Cinque Terre is not that taken care of...however they are both having great weather during summer.
