  2. Although temperatures throughout the Dominican Republic are extremely pleasant at this time, September is the height of tropical storm activity in much of the Caribbean region. Travelers interested in the Dominican Republic should take care to watch the local weather reports in order to be aware of any potential trouble and exercise caution when making their arrangements.

It should be the same weather in Cuba.

  3. Actually, Storm Fay just flooded the DR and Haiti and claimed 4 lives already. This storm has a possibility to turn into a hurricane that is heading towards western Cuban and is also going towards the Florida keys...I was just watching CNN as there was the running commentary on this.

It will be heading towards Cuba tomorrow (Sunday) and the Florida keys Sunday night/Monday.

The government of Cuba issued a hurricane watch, signalling hurricane conditions could be expected within 36 hours, for the central provinces of Camaguey, Ciego de Avila and Sancti Spiritus.

"Tropical storm warnings were issued for Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, Camaguey, Las Tunas, Holguin, Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo provinces, as well as the southwestern peninsula of Haiti. Tropical storm warnings means tropical storm conditions are expected within 24 hours.

A tropical storm watch remained in effect for the central Bahamas, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, meaning tropical storm conditions were possible within 36 hours."

And it may only end up just being a tropical storm/depression and may not become a full blown hurricane...they may only consider it a category 1 IF it does occur....

However, that said, by the time you go next week, you may not have any storm/hurricane to worry about.

I'll be keeping a close eye on that since I have some friends right in those provinces.

Whichever area you choose to go to, have a great time and be careful...but also remember that Cuba is highly protective of their citizens and their visitors, especially with hurricanes.

I've travelled to Cuba in August and didn't have a problem with any hurricanes. I only remember a storm that was brewing in the area and passed right over Cuba without any storms.

Check the two links from Riki and Paradise Blues...they're reliable links for weather and weather forecasting.
