My family lives there and my mom tells me it has been raining and it's a bit cold.

It's fine temperatures, but sometimes is raining. It's better you going to Copacabana on december.

But every months the rio is great!

Not only mild, but usually there isn't much rain. You can hit the beach during the day. Maybe a sweater at might. Only problem are the cold fronts that roll in from the south, but they usually last just a few days.
