  1. Hi Jeanette,

In Oct/Nov the weather is fine, sometimes a bit of rain ( 10 to 20 minutes) and then sun again, nothing to spoil your stay with us. Hurricanes? Well the last 115 years we had to suffer 3 of them. Puerto Plata is more weather secure than Punta Cana and there is more to do and to see. Don't forget town is 10 min. away with public bus and we have also Ocean World and so many things more...

Safe? Of course this area is 10x safer than the most American cities...

    Happy to help

    Happy Feet

  2. Hurricane  season  ( atleast  on  paper )  doesnt  end  until  mid  november  anywhere  in  the  tropics   but  its  always  Gods  call  so  trust  him  and  go  have  some  fun  !     If  your  a  single  straight  gal ,  beautiful  or  ugly ,  fat  or  thin ,  you  will  undoubtedly  feel  like  the  Queens  left  nipple  from  all  the  attention  you  will  get   from  all  the  gold,  i  mean ,  love  seeking  Dominicano  sharks  that  prey  on  the  passports  and  bank  accounts  of  naive  little  red  riding  hoods  seeking  island  romance  .  The  odds   of  you being  physically  harmed  are  as  small  as  that    cat 5  your  worried  about  coming  in  the  same  time  your  plane  does  . That  said,  you  still  need  to  be  alot  a  street   smart   and  keep  your  emotions  IN  CHECK  WITH  YOUR  CHECK  BOOK   and  you  should  have  a  really  cool  time . Oh   yeah,  swimming  with  flipper  at  ocean  world  is  probably  safer  and  cheaper  than  sleeping  with  one  of  those  sharks ! .................... love  bites  !

  3. i went on holiday last november to domrep (puerto plata),

except for the tropical storm tht occured while we were there it was fine.

There was regular showers of rain bt like happy feet said its gone within 20 mins and its back to sunbathing again.

However, when we then went again in feb this year it was so mch better!!!

    rained once! for 5 minutes!!

the locals did say when we went in november though that this was the first time they had that much rain in november so perhaps that was jstt my luck!!

wouldn't worry too mch though, i went back within 3 months! and will return soon! loved it!

However,  safe on your own? depends.

If your staying in the hotel and jst taking excursions with a trusted company like the company u travelled with (thomson etc) yes sure.

If your planning on using public transport and going into town alone, h**l no.

    lol.

I made some good friends whilst staying in domrep and the stories i heard about the crime rate etc were pretty scary.. there are alot of dodgey people without souding disrepectful because it is a beautiful place but very poor. Ofcourse they will do anything for money if they need it nd obviously they target foreigners.. assuming they have money

especially the men!! i am 18 and men wouldn't leave me alone, thats the one thing i couldnt stand. It was obvious they didn't all really like you, they liked your purse more!! very sleezy

but they are the happiest people i've ever met dominicans in general are.

You have to experience the dominican republic jst be careful..... i hope to live there one day its jst scary due to reasons stated above!!

but remember theres good n bad in every place!
