Weather in japan in winter?

im going to japan in december/january and would just like to know what the weather will be like, so I know what sort of clothes to bring. Ill be staying in the kansai region for most of the time, and will also be going to tokyo for 2 days.

Where im from it doesnt get that cold in winter, with the average temperature about 10degrees, but it does rain sometimes and can get awful windy, but never snows. I know it snows in the north in japan, but does kansai get snow? also is it very windy? (I hate the wind :\ ) I have poor circulation so I usually have to wear gloves here, and im guessing same in japan...

thankies!!!

  1. It doesn't snow that much in Kansai or Tokyo but it is really really cold. Also, because you are outside more you feel it more- walking to the train, walking around the city etc. I don't think there is really severe wind.

One great thing that they have here is Kairo- you can buy them at chemists or convenience stores for around 1 dollar, or 4 dollars for a pack of 5, they are heated pads that you can stick on your under clothes (NOT DIRECTLY ON YOUR SKIN) or put in your shoes and they keep you sooo warm.
