Hello

According to wikipedia, the Met Office is run by the government for the public, and for the military.

However the met office siad in my e-mail to them, that they have to actually pay for thier own weather forecasting data to show the public.

They siad that they get a limited budget to pay for what they do with all thier weather data from the government,

However, the BBC (British broadcasting co-operation) say that they pay the met office for the data and not the government.

What does this mean?

Who really pays for what?

  1. The Met Office is a UK government(tax payer) financed agency. It is expected to make money so it charges for its services. They have to pay their employers who provide the data. It also comes from all sorts of organisations some of which get paid.
