Question:

Web News: Keeps Getting Dumber??

Ok, i know a lot of people out there are very busy, and perhaps a major snippet of your news comes from your web e-mail provider *cough* *cough*.

People are always complaining how the American people are too apathetic about government (i mean real legislation, not just stupid scandals. e.g. the military commissions act was overshadowed by some idiotic s*x scandal in the senate) and I agree. So why not stock web news with current legislative issues pertaining to our government instead of brainless articles about "celebrities" that have one thousandth real impact on our lives compared to our senators.

Am I writing this just for the heck of it? Well, let's just say that I'm kind of fed up with absolutely stupid, pointless "front page news" like today's article which reads: Candid photos of celebs circle around the Internet every day, but Hewitt was steamed about the use of the dreaded f word—fat. Searches on "jennifer love hewitt fat" jumped 197% as a result of the pics.... Seriously

  1. i agree with you a 100%. also, i have noticed that the articles on yahoo are incredibly poorly written. the words that are used suggest that the writers have a microscopic vocabulary and their "shocking finds about how the human mind works" are things that i figured out using my common sense years ago.

  2. I see your point but I gotta tell ya that things are going great for you if this is all you have to worry about.

  3. Being from the great country of ENGLAND we think it is funny what you yanks call news. Stupid movie people parading around the states taking any fools money just to act stupid. It is a good thing that we did not need your help in WWII we won on our own.

  4. www.salon.com (a liberal site) has a feature called "blog report" that has liberal blogs on one side of the page and conservative blogs on the other.  Also Glenn Greenwald on www.salon.com does excellent media reporting.

Don't expect to get meaningful news from your ISP. They are big corporations and thrive on ignorance and celebrity gossip.
