Do you think that a judge would order a mother to do webcam as a type of visitation?

  1. I doubt that that qualifies as visitation.  That's more like a phone call.

  2. I think the issue is, depending on the age of the child and attention span, is web cam going to work? A very young child might not be so attentive to web cam and even if you get an hour three times a week, they might not want to sit there by the computer the whole time, nothing personal.

If you had your child for weekends at your home, you wouldn't have to squeeze in all of your interaction. You would still be able to have breakfast with him and peacefully co exist in the living room, him playing Playstation while you read or him building with Legos while you do some work.

If the mother is moving far away with the child it is one way of actually conversing back and forth while seeing each other, but it does not replace shared living where you get to touch and hug and interact with him.

On the other hand, you can get creative having an ongoing game over webcam or you can mail a snack that will travel well and buy some for yourself, too, and then have a snack of Chex mix and Yoo-hoo together -- things like that.  You can send little gifts in the mail and have him open them over the web cam.

Naturally if you have a daughter instead all the hes and hims would be she and hers. ;-)

  3. No this should not qualify as the only visitation a father gets. There is no bonding that can be done that way. If it is decided to use that as additional visitation then ok, but never the only visitation.

  4. that si not visitation, that's more of a phone call.

  5. No. That's not visitation. Anymore than watching a video of a kid qualifies as visiting.
