Web problems? (READ DETAIL THOROUGHLY)?

Recently I had the virus: Antivirus 2008 XP on my computer. My desktop was removed, my computer froze frequently and even shut down a couple times.

I managed to get my desktop back

I managed to stop the computer from freezing

I also managed to stop it from shutting down

I didn't have an antivirus program on my computer though, so I had to have someone send me a program through email because I couldn't search for one, I'd either be redirected or the connection would fail. However, I could get on MSN and any other thing that required an internet connection so I knew my internet worked.

I downloaded MalwareBytes and managed to get rid of the virus, along with most of the other problems.

However, I still can't surf the web with Firefox or Safari because the connection keeps failing.

I was told I may still have a virus so I downloaded Spybot and deleted what I thought was the problem, however when trying to surf the web the connection kept failing.

I even tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it, deleting the cache and the cookies, but that didn't work.

I can only surf the web through safe mode with networking.

I'd like to be able to surf the web again without having to resort to safemode. Help?

  2. These are all free tools which have worked in many cases, one of the problems with the rogue software such as Antivirus 2008 is that it has evolved and in many cases removes the desktop, restore points and icons. If you boot normally and get a blank desktop right click and open Task Manager, click on File, select New Task (Run) and enter My Documents click OK and it should open. It may take a few minutes before you can right click so go grab a coffee or something.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.
