Webb Simpson cherishes fatherhood for the second time, the US Open champion might miss the British Open!
After the brilliant win at the US Open, Webb Simpson is preparing for good news again and this time, it is bigger than golf.
Simpson is going to be a father again, his wife is expected to give birth to his second child in six weeks. The US Open champion might miss the British Open and has all his focus residing on his wife’s health and his second child.
His wife is extremely delighted and wants her husband to stay home for his child’s birth and believes that it would be difficult for Simpson to focus on golf at a time when his wife is giving birth.
“I don't think he is going to play the British Open just in case I go into labour, it would make Webb too nervous to hop over the pond and then have to try to get back,” said Simpson’s wife.
Simpson had a similar feeling about his participation at the British Open and considered family as the top priority.
“Officially I don't know yet, the next eight weeks are going to be up in the air. We're going to see what we can do,” said the US Open champion.
This year has been a stunner for Simpson and his family. His first major championship came at a time where he is entering fatherhood for the second time.
Simpson took home the US Open championship among names like Tiger Woods, Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy.
Woods has been disappointing alongside Donald and McIlroy. All of these giants of the golf world had their fair share at the sport. It is now time for the newcomers to take over the throne and Simpson did that.
The upcoming British Open is the tournament that holds massive importance as far as Woods’ career is concerned.
The last time he was seen lifting a major championship trophy was in 2008, where he won the US Open.
It is a wonderful time for the Simpson family. A US Open championship, alongside a second child as a new member of the family, it is truly a blessing for Simpson as a golfer and a father.
