Webb Simpson to give debut performance at the Masters
The current world number 10, Webb Simpson, is set to give his debut performance at the Masters, scheduled to start from Thursday April 5 to 8, 2012.
The Masters is the first major of the year and is attracting huge interest of the spectators these days.
It is being held at the amazing venue of the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
Simpson is among the 15 players who will display their debut performance at the Masters. The 26-year-old American professional is very excited to be in the field and to perform along with the top-ranked golf players in the upcoming week.
When he was just 11 years old, he watched Tiger Woods winning the title of the Masters in 1997.
Since then, he had been seeking to make it to the field of the Masters. Now the time has come to fulfil it and play along with Woods.
“My eyes were pretty wide the whole day. It was great," Simpson said for Woods’ 1997 victory.
“It's certainly a dream to be playing in the Masters. My love affair for Augusta started when I was a young kid. I was pinching myself this morning driving down Magnolia Lane. It has been fun already”.
Simpson has played seven events in 2012. His performance is up to the mark. He finished at the third position in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in January.
He finished tied on the 38th position at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T8 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, tied for 10th at the Transitions Championship and secured T36 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
He also displayed an amazing performance at the World Golf Championships events of the Accenture Match Play Championship and Cadillac Championship.
After making several impressive finishes, he is hoping to continue his performance and show an even better game in Georgia.
He added, “I think that goes as well with playing a major championship. The more I can play, the more comfortable I'll feel”.
He is excited, but also a little nervous. The reason is the tough field. All the world leaders are heading to Augusta and playing alongside them is an uphill task.
Simpson can only lead if he makes extra efforts and impressive shots throughout the four-day tournament.
The upcoming Masters will be a challenge for the American to prove his golfing skills in a proper manner.
