Webber Ready To Snatch The Top Position
Mark Webber of Red Bull is sure that he would get back to the top very soon. Despite the Sunday’s crash at the European Grand Prix he insists that his morale is high and the upcoming Grand Prix will bring him back to the top position. Last weekend at the track of Valencia, Spain Webber had to retire from the race after he had the car crash.
At the European Grand Prix, Webber smashed into Heikki Kovalainen’s Lotus on the ninth lap of the circuit which resulted in a 180 degree spin of his RB6 and he ended crashing into the boundary tyre wall. Owing to the crash he had to retire from the race.
The race in Valencia had not been good for Webber right from the beginning. At the start of the race he lost his position for being stuck into the opening traffic where he dropped down to ninth place from his initial second. Later on the seventh lap he stopped to have his tyres changed for the softer option tyres where he fell down to nineteenth place. Finally, it was the crash that pushed him out of the race.
However, the day proved great for team mate Sebestian Vettel who won the race adding twenty five points to the team’s score compiling a total of two hundred and eighteen points for the team so the team stands at second place in the Constructors’ Standings.
The much anticipated race of Valencia though ended in a disappointment for Webber but still his spirits as well as confidence is high for the next race.
After the race ended Webber told his fans through his official website that he feels a little sore due to the mishap but still he is all ready to make up for this incident and that he could not wait to get back in the car. Also, while talking about the accident he said that he had a few cuts and bruises but other than that he was completely fine.
It was lucky of the driver to return all well after the collision as the Australian car went upside down before it hit the tyre wall.
Throughout the season Webber had been able to do well. It was only two races back that he actually topped the charts. This crash has marked the first retirement of the 2010 season. Previously in the Turkish Grand Prix the two Red Bull cars crashed into each other but then it was Sebastian who had to retire whereas Webber was able to end at the third place.
For the next race the cars are ready to head to Silverstone scheduled from the ninth to eleventh of July.
Webber would enter the race with his current fourth position in the Drivers’ Standings with only twenty four points less than Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who heads the charts.
Webber however is still one of the strongest contestants for the title. He mentioned that being only twenty four points behind Lewis is not a big deal at all, not to forget that he scored fifty points in just eight days a few races back.
Also one cannot forget that we are talking about the Red Bull, their RB6 is one the most technically advanced cars of the season and Webber is also at his best form in this season.
Only the next month’s race would tell if Hamilton would be able to keep hold of his top slot or the Red Bulls would be able to snatch it back from him.
