Mark Webber hopeful after Red Bull crash
It was the last thing that any Formula One fan could have expected by the Red Bull’s side at the Turkish Grand Prix on this Sunday. Sebastian Vettel crashing his machine into his own teammate Mark Webber at the fortieth lap of the race. The atmosphere in the Red Bull camp was filled with emotions such as sorrow, disappointment and anger. It was Webber, who was heading for his third successive victory of the season and because of the incident, he lost this chance. However, Webber is certain that the team will recover soon and the drivers will come back with full force in the upcoming race.

Ultimately, the Australian driver finished at the Istanbul Park race at the third position, behind Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button for the McLarens team, after he had to land at the pit for his RB6 to get a thorough check. Vettel, who had captured the second place by that time, had to retire as he lost his chance while trying to overtake his teammate.

Webber, after the race, explained that the accident was really shameful for the team because both the Red Bull drivers had a great chance to win the race. Such was their performance in the Turkish Grand Prix that nobody had the ability to stop them from winning the race apart from themselves. In a video uploaded on the official Red Bull website, Webber lamented that for sure, one of them could have won the race. However, he added that this is all part of the game and that motor sports were always unpredictable. He added that with such speed and acceleration, the time between taking a decision and acting upon it was done in a fraction of a second and at times, assumptions can go wrong. He said that this event actually taught the Red Bull team a lot on how to act together as a team. Webber further claimed that both of them were leading the championship and were ahead of all the others.

Webber suggestively said that they learnt a lot from the incident and he wanted the people to understand that they were still a very young team. As compared to McLaren’s experience, competing and beating them was not at all an easy task. However, Webber claimed that the Red Bull has a thirst for victory and soon, they will forget this accident and go for more silverware. He said that in the past, Red Bull has proved that they can fight, and that they know how to fight and will fight hard in the future as well. Webber added that they had already put a feather at one side of their cap but they are still learning to get one for the other side.

He admitted that in Turkey, both drivers learnt a tough lesson. He added that all teams make mistakes; teams like Ferrari and McLaren have also gone through the same problems. He said that now the team needs to make a comeback as a united unit so that they move ahead.

However, besides all this disappointment, the fact remains that Webber is still heading the drivers’ championship. He had successfully bagged ninety three points whereas Button has been able to get eighty eight. Webber further concluded by saying that he liked the car and was happy with his team. In the last few seasons, Red Bull has been great in working as a close knit unit. Webber claimed that he has had some great races in the preceding Grand Prix’s and wishes to keep doing his best in the future as well. That is exactly what team Red Bull need at the moment. He said that he had given his 100 per cent for the team and for himself because that is what is needed from him and what he wishes to deliver at this stage of the race.
