Webber names 2010 a ‘relishing’ one
The Red Bull driver, Mark Webber calls the season a great one for him and exclaims that he is “relishing” the tough Championship battle thoroughly.
This is the first time since Webber became a part of the Formula One squad that he is fighting for the world championship title so closely. Previously, he had never been in such a close tug ever before. The entire 2010 season had been a brilliant one for
the driver as he kept standing at the apex of the points’ tally for most of the year. Now after returning from a disappointing round in Korea he is adamant to keep his fighting spirits and motivation level as high as ever and get back to the top very soon.
The last race turned out to be the unluckiest one of the season for Webber as he had to pack up his race after a poor move on the track which made his RB6 slip off the circuit at the 18th lap. With this poor finish, he not only had to walk out
pointless in the third-last race of a very critical season but also this nasty slip made him fall down from the top of the Drivers’ Championship as well.
Webber had been successful in sitting at the throne of the charts almost all through the season, despite of the fact that the year had unfolded in a very surprising and strange manner. All the top five drives in the tally have been equally competent and
determined and a very tough and nail biting fight has been witnessed between them right from the start of the season.
Now as the season takes its final twists and turns, the Australian driver peeps back into the past races and recalls the greatest season of his career. He added that the way the season has served the race fans with thrill, action and surprises on and off
the track, it would be remembered for a very long time.
Currently, Webber stands11 points adrift the charts’ leader and one of the strongest contenders of the season, Fernando Alonso. The Ferrari driver, including his last win in Korea, has bagged five race wins all through the season while Webber has had four
so far.
Moreover, his teammate, Sebastian Vettel also had to return home pointless from the last race owing to an engine failure. At the 45th lap of the Korean Grand Prix when the German was heading for a certain victory suddenly the engine of his car
blew thus ending the race of the driver pointless.
Despite of the disappointing last week, the Australian believes that so far the season has unwrapped brilliantly not only for the team but also for him. He categorises the incident of the last race as a mishap that once in a while happens with every team,
“It was a pretty extraordinary race and it’s closed things up at the top of the world championship, but I absolutely believe that I can win the title. The RB6 is a great car and I’m going to relish these last two races in Brazil and Abu Dhabi. To be racing
against guys of Fernando’s calibre is very rewarding and beating them is what sport at this level is all about.”
Although his first experience of the Korean International Circuit ended in disappointment, Webber is still very positive. Now, with only two more races to go, he is looking forward for a very intense battle believing that he is not only going to earn good
points out there in the last two rounds but also he is adamant to enjoy his time thoroughly on both the tracks.
