Webber stands by decision of keeping injury quiet
Mark Webber, of Red Bull Racing, has defended his decision of not informing his team about his shoulder injury during the final races of the recent Formula One season. Mark Webber has also insisted that his shoulder injury did
not affect his performance at all and he was good to drive in the final races of the event.
In a very recent interview the manager of the Red Bull Racing, team Christian Horner had expressed his thoughts about the matter and had said that Webber’s decision of not informing the team about his injury was pretty disappointing
as it thoroughly affected Webber’s performance in the final decisive races of the event.
Christian Horner added that the Red Bull Racing team is very keen and concerned with the physical and mental fitness of its drivers, therefore Mark Webber should have informed his team about the particular incident.
In response to the statement of Christian Horner, the veteran Australian driver has insisted that his shoulder injury had not affected his driving during the decisive races of the event. Webber added that the pain killer injections
he was taking helped him pretty well during the time and there was no reason of informing his team about his injured shoulder.
Mark Webber led the Championship score board but lost his lead to Spanish arch rival Fernando Alonso. According to Mark Webber, he was very happy about his performance and he was highly motivated as well, that is why he didn’t
felt like telling anyone in the team about his mountain bike accident.
For the people who are unaware of the matter, it is to be known that Mark Webber’s book was recently published in Australia in which he has revealed his shoulder injury which he had before the Japan Grand Prix while riding his
mountain bike with his friend. It is also to be mentioned that Webber had a very good chance of winning the World Championship title as he was just eight points apart from the point’s leader Fernando Alonso before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. But the Aussie finished
in the third spot and the news about his injury has added fuel to the fire. Because, now many sports critics are relating the matter of Webber’s shoulder injury with a sudden slump in the Aussie’s performance.
In the interview, Mark rejected the claims that his injury had affected his performance. Moreover, it is to be noticed that Webber had informed his physio about his injury and had also consulted with the Formula One executive medical
administrator, Gary Hartstein.
Webber said that if he had any issues related to the injury or he had felt any difficulty to drive his car, he would have informed his team but he was confident that his performance would not suffer and thus did not disclose the
matter to anyone. Webber expressed that he has never missed a race and he should have informed his team.
Webber had thoroughly explained the incident in his book
