Weber charcoal grill repair. The flanges that close the vents on my platinum one touch weber grill

The flanges that close the vents on my platinum one touch weber grill have bent, and no longer close the vents. I am trying to replace them, but I can't figure out how to remove the vent handle. An I shaped bracket on top of washer inside grill bowl. Vent handle inserted through bracket holes with a washer outside of grill bowl. No visible anchor on the handle. Can someone help me with this. Owner's manual no help.
