Where can I go online to make a website? Do you know the estimated cost? What about hosting services? Or should I have a professional website company do all this for me? Thanks so much!

  1. There is a beginners article at http://directorix.net/articles.html that should help get you off the ground.  As mentioned, web templates are available for free, and there is free software that you can use to edit to your needs.  If you wish to have an online store, Paypal has a simple program that requires virtually no programming on your part and you'll end up with a nice checkout page. Hope this helps.

  2. Depending on what type of site you want makes a difference to the answers to this question.  Personal sites can be found for free from places like freewebs or tripod.  I know with freewebs you can upgrade to a paid account and have your site be www.whatever.com you choose.  They have free templates for you to use, it is pretty much Add a paragraph, photo, or what ever here and there.  Easy, but not custom, and not for most businesses.  If you don't want to spend the money, and want a cheap, quick site just to get some information out about you, then this is ok.

To get a more personalized site, hosting will cost you at least $5 a month.  My friend who has a hosting company is $8/month and has free templates for you to build your own site.  Still not personalized to your buisness, then you either spend months learning html, css and give yourself a couple migraines, or hire a designer for a few hundred bucks.  Depends on who you hire.  I'm trying to get into the design of websites, and am pretty cheap, but others who have more experience would be $200-300 depending on how many pages.  If you want flash graphics, animations it can be upwards of a $1000.

    Hope that helps.
