You need to set the name server.

Ask your webmaster for your name server.

If you use a site like godaddy, you should log and and find the relevant area (Often domain settings etc.) and insert the name server(s).

It can sometimes take 48 hours for the action to take effect.

It depends on how your website is hosted. Is it on a home server or hosted at a hosting company? If it is the latter, then find out what the name server is. This is usually something like "ns1.domainname.com" and there might be more than two of them. The host should provide these when requested. You take these and enter them into the information fields on your domain name. If you are connecting directly to a IP (home server, etc) then you input the IP address into the domain name fields and have it direct the traffic to the IP.

You will need access to the host account and to the domain name account to do anything above.
