When choosing a breed its good to learn what the breed was first created for.  Even though most of the working ability has been bred out of many dogs their personality,  activity level and needs still comes through.  A good place to learn about different breeds is the AKC web site.  If a breed interests you,  find a site for the breed club for more information.  Do the research to learn about different breeds yourself.  Don't use one of the quizzes or questionnaires to select a breed.
