  2. I was home schooled in Indiana. We lived in White County, so we followed the County's curriculum guidelines. We didn't use the same textbooks, but we covered the same subjects. My sisters and I actually ended up a couple grades ahead of the public school kids in the same grade because we worked at our own pace.

I'm sure if you contact the Dept of Education, they'll give you some resources for low-income/disability families.

  3. Based on what I have read about the state of Indiana and its requirements for home school, there is no set curriculum that must be used. This opens the door for many options to you and your daughter. Depending upon what grade level she is in and what her interests are, as well as plans for college, there are places like Math dot com and programs such as "Democracy It Is!" that are available for little to no cost at all. There are also valuable life lessons she can learn without the requirement of text books or learning materials other than her mind and yours. Learning to problem solve and critically think through things are valuable tools and just discussing issues together can be far more effective than spewing facts from a book or lesson plan.

    Good luck!

  4. I home school in indiana!   We lived in southern indiana the first half of her school years and now we live way up north at the tip to p of the state.

I dont know what city you live in, but some of the schools actually will give you the text books that they are using for the year.

What is the reason you are homeschooling?

Have you joined your local group?  Homeschoolers are a special groups....they usually love to help out one another and will share curriculums and books.

Is your daughter behind? self-motivated? rebelling?

There is no one answer!  It depends on you and on her and on her abilities and interests!!!!

But there is alot out there...start with your local group! they can steer you in the directions that you need to go.

    good luck and happy schooling!!

  5. K12 and Connections Academy offer free homeschool programs in some states. Here are 2 good websites that will help you get started homeschooling.
