hi...the rental value of mall space differs in diffrent states...you just said that you want to rent 500 sq feet ...the price for the same property would be different in mumbai,as compared to delhi and like wise...hence i advice that you check out some property portal..like indiaproperties.com, magibricks.com, sulekha.com, prop-mart.com, 99acres.com...i hope you find the right kind of property...hope i was able to answer your question correctly...

I have lived as an expat in many countries websites are usually overpriced for tourists .

The only way to do it is to find a cheap hotel or even hostel depending on your budget email them and ask how much they will charge you for 1 week.

Once you there have someone you know take you apartment hunting or hire someone one to help you for the day it will probably cost you $10 for a local to help you around for the day. Tell them you will tip them big if they can lower the asking rent on you favorite apartment.

In India I am guessing a 500sq feet place in an OK neighborhood would cost 250-350 USD a month
