Question:

Wedding Cake?

My mom is making my wedding cake and we have the stand in the picture with the link. I love the cake shown in the picture... Does anyone know if it's just ribbon (if that would work) or if there is some special frosting you have to use, or if you can buy special ribbon. Let me know.. I'm trying to figure out how I can get this to work! Thanks!

  1. There's pretty much no doubt that it's fondant. If your mom is good at that, there should be noooo problem, because it's not really hard to work with. But remember, it is YOUR wedding, and you can make it out of whatever you desire, so if you want to use real ribbon, you can. It really shouldn't matter what kind of ribbon you use, but you pick it. Good luck with everything, and I'm sure the cake will turn out amazing! Congratulations!

  2. Fondant in strips is what the ribbons are.

  3. It is probably made out of fondant... If you didn't want to use that you could use a stiffer frosting to make the ribbons on the cake and then real ribbon to make the bow on top...

    Good luck!! and Congrats!!

  4. it's fondant

  5. That looks like fondant cut in strips.

The ribbon can also be fondant shaped to make a bow.

  6. You can use regular fabric ribbon- the frosting makes it stick to the cake.  They did it on Platinum Weddings the other day.

  7. the pieces on the cake draping down the side thats frosting the one piece in the middle thats ribbon
