I want to get married, it will be just me, the hubby to be, 2 kids and 2 friends (6 total) either at home or abroad, interested in anywhere that is not more than 4 hour flight or drive, we live in London. I would like a fairly romantic location and would like to hear from anyone who has been to, or had this kind of intimate, small wedding.

  1. Get a ferry boat, or if you want to make a vacation out of it, go on a cruise.

  2. rent a private island

  3. Is there a park near your home that you love? Or a small church that's really pretty, or restaurant with a private room that you love going to? I think small weddings are incredibly lovely and meaningful, and because you don't have to accommodate 100 people, you can have it almost anywhere. What's someplace special to you?

  4. We did the Vegas thing for our relatively small group of 18. You have the whole of europe on your doorstep, you could pick somewhere really picturesque and romantic. Paris? How about the Italian amalfi coast? Or a greek island? We spent 3 weeks in croatia a few years ago and it was stunning. I have beautiful memories of an Island called Hvar which although quite hard to get to, would make a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding. Good for you keeping it small. Our wedding was wonderful, we resisted the pressures from everyone to have a big wedding, and our intimate little group says it was such a lovely way to celebrate our wedding. Many congratulations!

  5. i perform marriages and nowadays when money is cheap i know of a lot of people renting thee chapel of funeral chapels! they rent very cheaply, can supply a minister, and often also have a spot for small receptions. many will even rent flower arrangements etc for photos. i mean seriously who is gonna know? as if some DEAD guy is gonna miss a bunch of roses sitting there wilting beside him. a real cheap way of having a legal wedding that makes for great photos, and usually licened premises for receptions etc. clean private, trustworty one stop shopping for all your matrimonial needs.

  6. Go to a chateau in the south of France, or Italy.

  7. Get married at a farm in scottland.get married in paris by the elfile tower.get married by the cliffs of dover or in front of a casttle.I would recomend the farm in scottland. It's cute and romantic and quant.

  8. I don't live in England, but I do know you sure have a lot of old castles out there.  Would you be able to rent a room in a castle?  How romantic it would be to wed in an old castle.  Of course, I don't know if it's expensive, but I can see it now.  I wish I could have done something like that.  I live in the U.S., no castles here.  One small room in a castle would be perfect for 6 people.

  9. gretna green is really nice and it's not too expensive

  10. Go to either Lake Garda or Sorrento in Italy, only 2 hours flight away and absolutly stunning views and very romantic.
