Question:

Wedding Etiquette- Out of Town Guests?

What am I supposed to cover? They're international guests (40 of them) and I'm already taking care of their hotel rooms so I can make sure they're together. That way it'll be easier to transport them. I'm also paying for transportation. Anything else I'm supposed to take care of?

  1. You are doing a great deal with the transportation and accommodations, but I think it would be nice to have some sort of welcome basket in their hotel rooms when they arrive.  It doesn't have to be fancy, in fact it could be as simple as some soap, shampoo, etc. so they don't have to use the hotel minis; some local maps or information on restaurants, entertainment, etc.; and maybe an itinerary of the weekend and wedding activities.

    Congratulations and good luck!

  2. I would arrange to make welcome baskets of packets.  Fill them with information about local activities, thing to do, things to see, a map of the area, listing of local restaurants (including places that deliver to the hotel) and a list of the nearest mall, Walmart, grocery store, CVS.  Just in case they forgot anything and need to buy it.

Also, try to find coupons for discounts on local attractions.  Include those in the packet.  Places like AAA has those.

  3. Since you have already given them way to much I would stop. But I do know they would like a map with restaurants and things to do. The good thing is that you can make that on your computer at very little cost.

  4. wow!! how cool!! i think you've done plenty [financially] but you could definitely either plan some activities or collect some brochures from different landmarks, theaters, venues, etc. in the area so they have something to do while they're in town.

have a great wedding!! congratulations :-)

  5. I think you have done enough!! :)  You paid the way and the room.

They are probably excited just getting to come.

I wouldn't plan anything for them, they probably want to shop, get their nails done, sight see, ect.....  I mean if you have time to sit around and think of all this stuff for them to do and get all there schedules coordinated then by all means have at it.

    Good Luck.  :)

  6. You are already being very generous. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps plan a brunch or some activities around the wedding so they have some things to do and feel like they get to see you and bond with your new spouse and other family while here.

  7. nope you don't have to take care of anything else. as it is, you are being extremely generous by taking care of their transportation and hotel rooms!
