Wedding Favors? I have ideas, but want some more.?

Me and my fiance LOVE Skittles, and Nerds (the candy), so i was thinking of buying the little bags of each and putting them in little favor boxes..they will look fancy but its only candy inside. I like the idea, but i think it needs refining, and i dont want the favors to be expensive at all, thats why i want to go with the candy, but i hate those gross white mints you get at weddings sometimes, and as much as i like the custom colored m&m s...we just dont like m&m s very much.

If it helps with ideas..the color scheme is black and white with hints of pale pink.

  1. Ok this is easy to do.  All you need is:

    Favor Boxes

    Ribbon

    Custom Stickers

I did this for my wedding and it was a HIT!  Here are links for the cheapest boxes and stickers. Put the candy in the box.  Put the ribbon around it, place sticker on top of the ribbon to hold it down.  You can do any colors you want to match your wedding, and the stickers will be custom printed with whatever you want them to say.  Mine said "Thanks for being here while we tied the knot."  Then inside the box we had chocolate covered pretzles

    Wedding labels stickers.

  2. My friend did that for her wedding and it was a big hit.  She had little bags (like you get at halloween time) of m&m's (her favorite) and reese pieces (his favorite) and put them in the little organza bags that matched her wedding colors (I think it was Navy).  You could still see through the bags to see what was inside, but there was still the color she wanted.  The bags also had a little tag that read "Our favorite sweets, for our favorite guests.  Thanks for sharing our special day!"

  3. Yumm!  my husband and I both love skittles and he LOVES nerds!  I think that those are great ideas.  you cant please everyone when it comes to wedding favours.  so I say do what you want to do.  at least this way if you have left overs or people forget them its something you can enjoy rather then something that would go to waste.

  4. go to www.orientaltrading.com they have tons of wedding stuff for cheap i got a lot of cute favors from there for my wedding (they come in bulk)

  5. Get all little black and white favor boxes (mix and match, I mean, not checkered), and tie them all with light pink ribbon, and put whatever the heck you want in 'em. I would stick to one candy, though. Skittles are probably better because they're easier to eat, you know?

There's no rule that you have to do chocolate or the typical favors. Go with this idea because it's unique and it's what you guys want. People will either love it, or kind of not like it ... as with any other favor.

Personally, I love candy, so I love this idea.

  6. I think the other people had a great idea about putting them in organza. We did handmade chocolate suckers at our wedding. They were inexpensive but very time consuming to make.

I agree with you that those mints are nasty. Do something creative and people will like it.

  7. Since it's not for you, it's for your guests, it doesn't matter so much what you like, but what the guests will expect to receive.

Mints are traditional because they are practical.  They won't melt or crumble or stain hands like some other candies, and they serve the purpose of freshening breath since guests will be hugging, mingling, and talking up close.

Personally, I wouldn't suggest bucking tradition on this one--pale pink mints in a small white tulle or organza bag with a black ribbon sounds perfectly elegant.

The custom colored M & M's would be cute, but they are pricey, and the chocolate could melt if your wedding is in the summer--I wouldn't chance it.

Skittles & Nerds just don't go with that color scheme at all and I really can't think of a way to make them look sophisticated or classy!
