i am in the navy and im in Aschool at great lakes naval base in illinois.. im not sure the exact date of when i will be graduating and getting my 2 weeks of leave.. so me and my fiancee arent sure of an exact date.. we REALLY want to have a wedding and not just go through the courthouse and signing papers.. none of our guests are coming from out of town they all live in florida so travel arrangements for them is not a problem. i will not know for sure of my graduation date until later on.. i should be graduating in mid november of this year but aschool is self paced and im not for sure of the date but i should know in october ?

what is like the minimum weeks in advance i could send the invites??

is 4 weeks too short? we might be able to find out 4 weeks in advance

  1. 4 weeks is cutting it. 2 months is more adequete, especially for people making travel arrangements. However if you need to do it in 4, go ahead, just don't make it any sooner!

  2. 4 weeks is just about borderline - I say you spread the word to those you would like to invite about an upcoming wedding and that the date will not be confirmed until a month ahead of time.

You should be fine - those that matter will make it a point to attend your wedding =)

  3. 4 to 6 weeks will be good enough, considering your guests won't need to figure out travel arrangements.  :)  Hope everything works out well. Congrats!

  4. That's a tough one! If your guest list is small, you might have your family or fiance let people know that it is going to be some Saturday in November, or whatever your closest estimation is, and to try to keep their schedules flexible.

Then send the invites with the exact dates as soon as you know. It will probably be a far shorter amount of notice than usual, but at least they were given a heads-up.

  5. One month is the standard. Any shorter is considered pretty rude.

  6. You could send them out as soon as you find out, you might not have alot of people show up because november tends to start the holiday season and people may already have plans, but it would still be better than a courthouse wedding IMO
