Question:

Wedding Reception Decor?

First of all, I've finally picked out a cake! Thank you to everyone who helped me when I last posted my frantic plea about finding the perfect cake!

Here is what I'm going with http://www.maisiefantaisie.co.uk/pale-blue-and-blossom-wedding-cake.html

Of course, it will be white instead of blue, red fresh roses, and black detail work. I'm excited.

But...:(

I still can't come up with centerpieces and other reception decor. I have round tables that seat 8-9. They are covered with white linens. I can't get any other linens due to price. They do have black cloth napkins that they said that some people lay out under the centerpiece to make a black square, for color.

Other than that, I'm stuck. We're going with mostly black and white with red accents. I don't want to have to purchase anything too crazy (vase or container-wise) because if it's something simple, I can look around and hopefully find it somewhere for cheap!

  1. The best thing at my wedding was the centerpieces, my colors were purple so I went to a couple of pet stores and bought purple beta fish and the small round bowls you usually see them in with the scalloped edges. I tied purple ribbon around the top of the bowl and placed the bowl on top of a very little bit of greenery and small small  purple flowers. You could do the same with red betta fish and black ribbon  over some rosepetals. The bowl ran me $1 each (Michaels) and each fish was $4-$9. So total, each one probably cost less than $15.

Everyone loved them and they were a hit, additionally I wrote a Disney Bird name (Iago, Zazu.. etc) On each bowl with a Glass Pen, and who ever was sitting at that table and knew which Disney movie the Bird came from they got to keep the centerpiece! It was so cool that up to 2 years later people were calling me to tell me that their fish was still alive! It was a piece of my wedding people remembered and kept for years!

  2. I would go to gtdecorations.com thats where my aunt got hers from and they're not at all expensive. hope this helps.

  3. you can buy red silk rose petals at craft stores (look online to price-compare first, though) and sprinkle those across the tables.  Short of that, red votive candles or red heart confetti, red flower centerpieces (carnations look great and are much less expensive than roses).

    Congrats and good luck!
