Wedding Reception HELPPPP!!!!!

Hi all

I need some ideas. I want to have a laid back BBQ wedding reception at the beach. They have these picnic areas you can rent. I was thinking of having Famous Daves BBQ cater it. But I need ideas for favors and decorations. I wanted the colors to be pinks greens and white. And I figured that the wedding will be in august/september. I know that I want a cupcake tower with a small cake on top for us to cut. And I also want a candy buffet. The place where we are having it is right on the beach so guests will be able to go swimming and everything. I want it to feel like a family BBQ at the beach. Its not going to be a "traditional" wedding. I am a very crafty person so I want to make as many things as possible. Even the invitations if possible.

Thanks

  1. For Favors, Flip Flop themed favors would be perfect.

These flip flop luggage tags are nice:

Also practical, are these leather flip flop keychains:

If you are going to have assigned seats, theses flip flop placecard holders may work:

  2. I love those colors together...and luckily for you they are in style right now. I think you could do a lot if you found a great sheet set with those colors...they have them in all kinds of styles, patterns, and stuff (especially in the baby section) and you could get some small teracotta pots, get some clors in pink & white (the green is already there) and one of the styrofoam inserts. Make the arrangement and cover the pots with the sheet material. (Be careful though, once you cut a sheet they tear easily from that point)

  3. Great idea!  do what makes you happy!

For decor do potted flowers in hand painted containers.  They can be used as decor and centerpieces and then taken home as favors and can be planted.  then its not so much a floral cost as well

Balloons can be nice if its not too windy.

An arch of some sort with pink tulle and silk flowers

lots of napkins, wet naps and maybe bibs for the guests if you are getting the messy BBQ type food!

  4. You'll be able to keep it simple and low cost since you'll already have a beautiful back drop being on the beach. Bring in the colors with balloons, streamers, table cloths, etc.

One word of caution: Candy buffets do not work well outside in the heat! If you must have one avoid all chocolate. It gets soft and melts quickly even if it's not THAT hot out. Stick with candy that stands up better to the heat like hard candies, lollipops, jelly beans, starbursts, etc. And of course keep it out of the sun and have a fan on it if possible. This also doubles as your favors!

  5. What a wonderful idea.  Judging from your color scheme..I'd find a way to incorporate something to do with Watermelons...maybe at your candy bar you can have a watermelon sucker tree...and/or use them as favors!  Sounds like a great time and I wish you the best!

  6. With the beach as your backdrop, I'd simply pull in the colors I want with plates, napkins, tablecloths, cups, flatware.  Maybe a few decorations if you're under a gazebo and some decorations for the cake table - silk flower arrangements in terra cotta pots, etc.
