Question:

Wedding Reception Non-Place Card Ideas?

by  |  earlier

I am getting married in 2 weeks and still need ideas for the place cards for the reception. The ceremony and reception are both outside, so I prefer not to use place cards, as they would probably just blow away! I need ideas for what else I could do. I was thinking of maybe putting a poster up on an easle, and just have everyone listed under their appropriate table number, but i don't want it too look tacky, or hand-written. Any ideas greatly appreciated!

  1. use the favors.  Put a tag on each with same and table number then it saves having to use cards, plus they wont blow away

  2. I wouldn't even bother giving people place settings, especially if it's giong to be outside. My wedding is also in two weeks, and we will have tables around the yard, with the buffet easily accessible.

My assumption is that people are adults and can find a place to sit for themselves. Plus, I've never really liked the idea of place cards. I like to walk around, or "mill" around, as we call it. I wouldn't want to restrict someone by telling them where to sit. It just seems so second grade to do that to somebody.

At an outdoor affair you can easily get away with letting people seat themselves.

  3. Have a table seating arrangement

A board with table numbers and a list of names to sit at that table

you dont have to have place cards

just as long as they know which table theyre on

if you dont do this, freinds might sit up close and your fmaily could be left to sit down teh back and miss out on speeches etc and it couyld cause probs

    what am i talking about

    all weddings cause probs

    hahha

cant please everyone, so ya gotta please yaself!

  4. If the number of guests is small then don't bother with seating arrangements. If it's not, then you can use the napkin rings and tie ribbon with a bookmark or business card size "place card" so it's heavy and won't blow away and put the napkin on the side or on the plate.

If you're giving favor bags, you can place the favor bags on the plates with a name tag tied around the bags.

    Good luck :)

  5. You might try using the card holders for flower bouquets. I am sure you will have center pieces on each table so place one of those little pitch forks in each saying the name of the family sitting there or Whatever. Then you go get those Pretty doily looking throw away place mats and you can have someone with pretty handwriting write the person's name on the upper left-hand corner of each one (drink on right?). You know what your table setting will look like so you choose the name placement, but then the plates will be holding the mat down and if they still flop too much for you, a very small piece of rolled tape under each corner will help. If you are not using expensive table covers you could also use a very small dab of craft glue or tacky glue to help hold the mats in place. Just a thought. Hope it helps. Good luck with your big day!

  6. For a casual wedding, you don't have to do a seating chart - just let people sit where they please. But for a cute outdoor wedding idea, maybe you could tie a balloon (white or in your wedding colors) with the person's name written on it to their chair. Or find some pretty, smooth stones and write each name on it. I was in a wedding recently where the name cards were in small picture frames, and the frames were the wedding favors.

  7. I made a poster on the computer (I used Microsoft Excel) and put an engagement picture of me and me fiance in the middle, with our names on the top of the poster.  Along the sides of the picture, I listed the bridal party.  Then I listed the guests names alphabetically, under the corresponding letter (all the 'a's under a big A) and listed their table number next to it so that it was easy for them to find.  Then I emailed it to Staples Copy Center, and they made a poster out of it.  It turned out very well.

    Hope that helps!
