Question:

Wedding Reception - Please Help....

What kinds of things could you do at a wedding reception if you weren't going to dance or do the bouquet and garter toss? I'm getting married next month and I'm worried that my guests might get bored after two hours if all we do is eat and cut the cake. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. I suggest that you create a picture slide of you and your husband. You can do it on www.slide.com.

  2. There are wedding entertainers for hire.  I got to see what they do at a bridal show.  OMG!!!!  It would be perfect for you.  They have a DJ and people that dance and sing and clap and know how to get the party started and continue as long as you want them too.  Especially if you don't want to dance or do the usual.  Look them up, they invite you to come to someone's wedding and you can watch from the side what goes on.  Congratulations!

  3. i just got married three months ago and i felt the same way so i bough disposable cameras and put them on the reception table so they can take pick of them-self and of course me and my husband. it turned out great!  also try to do a surprise dace your guest would love that

  4. If the wedding reception is only two hours long I wouldn't worry about it to much. By the time everyone eats, toasts, cutting the cake and mingling there won't be a whole lot of time left over.

But - if you want to you could put together a nice slideshow for your guests of you and your fiance. That would be something nice and entertaining for your guests.

  5. Hi.  How long do you want your reception to be?

Obviously, if there is no dancing then people will leave after the cake cutting.

Make sure you go around and chat with your guests.  I think that is very important.

You could put together a slide show of you and your fiance from children to the present day.  Many companies can do this, or if you are good with the computer....do it yourself!   Put the pictures in with music playing.  I have seen this done at a number of weddings, and people usually enjoy it.

OR...if you don't want to do the slide show, then simply display some pictures of you and your fiance.

    So...

    ~ Visit with your guests.

    ~ Have the toast(s).

    ~ Eat.

    ~ Cut the cake.

~ Play the DVD of your pictures.

    That's about it!

  6. Don't forget the toasts, that is always a good way to get peoples attention, but that won't last that long, food will only take about an hour too. Some people leave after food anyways. If it ends early everyone will just help clean up!
