Question:

Wedding Reception Wording Question

For our wedding, my fiance and I are planning on holding cottages for accommodations by a lake near Halifax, NS.

We will be having an outdoor simple ceremony followed by a BBQ Buffet Reception. (Very informal) We will be paying for all of the food and there will be liquor and beer brought for the event, however, the expectation is that this is a small wedding and guests are to bring their own as the beverages we are purchasing will be extra for guests. We are operating on a tight budget, but the immediate family accommodations will be getting paid for, but any suggestion on how to word the BYOB that is not exactly that....??? (Proper wording that sounds better?)

Any ideas would be great. Thank you.

  1. Maybe something like this:  Tea and punch will be provided; Adult Beverages will be available for purchase.

    Good luck!

  2. Don't do it. Throw a reception for your guests that you can afford, and don't ask them to bring their own food/drink in addition to the travel and expense of attending your wedding. The reception is basically your gift to them for their years of love and support.

Either have enough drinks for everyone, or don't serve them.

  3. Sorry but I BYOB wedding is just tacky - even if you are trying to save money and its an informal BBQ wedding. Even fraternity boys can get together to buy a few kegs. You can probably do the same :) Not trying to be rude but you can at least provide a couple of kegs of Miller/Bud Light

  4. umm maybe something like ' We will be purchasing beverages, but kindly ask guests to bring along something of there own'...?

Sorry thats the best i can do

    Good luck!!

  5. Reception immediately following. Alcohol permitted on premises not provided.
