Should wedding invitations include a response AND a reception card? Or do you just assume they will be attending the reception if they come to the wedding?

  1. A response card and reception card are for 2 different purposes. The response card is used to reply whether or not the guest is coming. The reception card on the other hand is for the guest to hold onto. The reception card contains the information regarding the reception such as the place, address, and time. So yes, people typically include both.

  2. No -- you should just assume that if they come to the wedding that they are coming to the reception. Usually, if they cant make it to the reception, they will let you know.

  3. It is assumed that when a person RSVPs yes, they will attend both the wedding ceremony and the reception. You aren't required to send two separate response cards.

  4. There's a difference between these two cards:

Response card - guests reply using this card acknowledging whether they will or will not attend the wedding and/or reception.  if you need a count for both locations/events ask them to reply to both on ONE card.  Most people only require a count for the reception and as such only use it for that purpose.

Reception card - this gives the guests the info on the time & location of the reception.  The keep this card for future reference on the day of your wedding.
