Wedding Tape on Computer??

Question

I got a wedding captured on a disc...but now

i want to save it as a file on my computer..

but it also needs to work so i could open it and acsess

the files on Windows Movie Maker and be able to work

rip the dvd with handbrake

for the video pick xvid and for the audio pick mp3

What format is it in on the disk? An avi file?
