Yes most tuxes are rented for weddings. If you do want to buy a tux, it works the same way as buying a suit. Many of the better men's stores carry tuxes and you just get them tailored to fit properly.

Definately MensWarehouse. My husband had his tux within 2 weeks of the fitting. We could have gotten it sooner, but we were not in a rush. The price was also very reasonable for the quality.

Unless you want a tuxedo made...not really "do tuxedos".  Tuxedos are rented and unless it's prom season or a heavy wedding season, you shouldn't have a problem rented one.
