  1. Gold and cream.

    Cream flowers

    Gold make up

    Cream and Gold centre pieces

And ask guests to wrap the presents in ever cream or gold wrapping paper.

  2. A lot depends on her preference of colors and the shade of her skin tone.  The shade of brown can make a difference on what colors work.  There's really not much information here to give a really good answer.

Ask her what her preferences are.  Day to day see what colors she wears and what really catches your eye when she wears them.

    Good luck.

  3. Choose 2 or 3 colors that compliment her and each other. I think it's easiest to choose the bridesmaids dresses and coordinate everything around that.

We were just in a wedding for my sis in law - what we did was go to the Bridal Shop and choose her wedding dress designer, then looked at coordinating bridesmaids dresses. She chose Alfred Angelo and we had an idea we were using a green for one color. Well, it was EASY choosing that green as her main color and our dresses - Pistachio. It went with EVERYTHING and was easy to bring a blue and white to tie it all together. She also could have used silver, cream, a darker green, pinks, apricot - lots of colors would have matched.

We then found flowers in that color and it all was absolutely beautiful in the end. Check out the alfred angelo site and see - there are 55 colors and it makes it really easy. Whichever color she is attracted to is the RIGHT main color for her!

  4. The best color the bride can choose is the one that looks most flattering on her. Brown skin tones can have a yellowish (warm) undertone or a bluish (cool) undertone.  Just knowing the skin color is not good enough to choose the exact color that would be best, but I'll link you to a source that can help you decide on your own.

  5. all brides should wear "white".   if any other color (even cream or ivory) is chosen it will send the message that "i'm not a virgin"; which is the whole point of brides wearing white.  it may be the case and today a lot of brides aren't virgins, but who wants to go down the aisle with a stigma attached unless it is totally obvious (ie. child/or children or second marriage).

ALL skin tones look good in white.  even the darkest pigmented person looks beautiful (not "dramatic" as mention in an earlier post) in a white gown.  it doesn't come across as a stark contrast.  what have african americans been getting married in for centuries?

other colors that EVERYONE looks good in (regardless of undertones) are coral/peach, red, champagne, and black.  for a brown complexioned person, i agree with an earlier post that gold tones for makeup is always beautiful and additionally it won't clash with any of the other colors (flowers, bridesmaids, decorations, etc).

i am a cosmetics and style consultant for a direct sales company and have been trained in this area.  additionally, i am a bridal consultant with a lot of knowledge in wedding traditions and current trends.

any of the colors mentioned above will make nice primary colors and can be easily paired with any contrast color.  the primary color will dominate and the accent colors (ribbons, flowers, candles, confetti, etc) won't be enough to clash with anyone's complexion.

  6. Honestly, anything except brown! It all depends on what shade of brown she is. A medium brown with red undertones looks really nice paired with gold while medium brown with yellow undertones looks really nice with silver. The darker shade she is, the more contrast you will get with lighter colors. The lighter brown she is the more contrast you will get with darker colors.

You can so something really cheap. Grab a t-shirt in several different colors and take a picture with a digital camera in front of a white wall. The photo will show you things that the naked eye won't. This will also show you what a professional photo may look like with the color you've chosen.

  7. If the bride wants a traditional dress then either ivory or white should work for brown skin. Dark brown skin will give a very dramatic contrast with white. Granted, as impressive as that would look I myself would go with ivory if I had dark skin, because I don't think I could pull that bold a look off.

  8. Brown skin looks fabolous with red.Maybe the dress can have alittle red on the train and the flowers can be red roses.

  9. Dark-skinned people look SO good in hot pink/fuschia, it's not even funny.  Maybe a traditional white dress with a fuschia sash, and fuschia bridesmaids dresses with chocolate-brown accents.  Elegant, beautiful, and good for any season.
